RNSG 2130 Nursing Management, Leadership, and Transition
The focus of Nursing Management, Leadership, and Transition is on the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the leadership and management role requirements of the registered professional nurse. Topics include: competencies required for leadership and management; leadership and management styles; dealing with conflict; exploration of current professional nursing issues; group dynamics; organizational change; shared governance, and transition from the role of the student to the role of the professional nurse. Emphasis is placed on the need for life-long learning, professional growth, and personal responsibility and accountability. Students will have the opportunity to develop independence in caring for groups of patients and transition to the role of the professional nurse. Students are expected to demonstrate role competencies, evidenced-based clinical decision making, effective communication, and collaboration with peers, faculty and the healthcare team. Clinical learning experiences will take place in a variety of healthcare settings.
