Transfer Students

Additional Documents required for all Transfer F-1 students:

• Copy of the current I-20 in Active Status.
• Copy of the F-1 visa. 
• Copy of the I-94.

1. ACTIVE STATUS F-1 Students currently enrolled in another college.

If you are currently attending a college or university in the USA and your SEVIS RECORD is in an ACTIVE STATUS, you may apply as a transfer student to Chattahoochee Technical College. Please, notify your current school’s International Office of your desire to transfer. Transfer F-1 students must first be fully admitted into Chattahoochee Technical College before their SEVIS record is transferred. Follow all admission procedures outlined in International Student Admission Requirements. 

Test scores will be waived if the transfer student has completed a college level Algebra Course and a college level English Composition Course. 

NOTE: The Math and English courses must be transferrable, not institutional credit only.

If transfer F-1 students have not completed the required college level courses, they may request a testing voucher for the ACCUPLCER NG Test and take the test online. Contact Chattahoochee Tech International Services to receive a testing voucher.

After the F-1 student is fully admitted, Chattahoochee Tech International Services will send a Transfer Clearance Form and an Acceptance Letter to the F-1 student’s current International Office, so that the student’s record is transferred to Chattahoochee Tech. Transfer can occur only if the end date of their current school and the beginning date of their new semester is less than 5 months.

Since classes get full quickly, transfer students are advised to register and pay for their classes at Chattahoochee Technical College as soon as possible after the Transfer Clearance form is sent to their current school and before the actual transfer release date has occurred.

2. ACTIVE STATUS F-1 students who have graduated from another college.

If you have graduated from another college or university in the USA and your SEVIS record is still in ACTIVE STATUS, you can apply as an F-1 transfer student. Follow the process outlined in International Student Admission Requirements.

Testing is not required for F-1 students who have graduated a college or university in the U.S.A.

NOTE:  In order to stay in ACTIVE status, your record should be transferred no later than 60 days after graduation date. Also, your next semester should begin no later than 5 months after the day you graduated.

3. INITIAL STATUS F-1 Students enrolled in another college.

Student who have just arrived in the U.S.A, on an F-1 visa issued for another college and wish to transfer to Chattahoochee Technical College can do so ONLY if their program at Chattahoochee Technical College starts no later than 30 days after their arrival date.

Generally, we advise these students to complete one semester at their first institution and then initiate the transfer to Chattahoochee Technical College.

4. TERMINATED STATUS F-1 students

Chattahoochee Technical College does not accept transfer students with a terminated SEVIS record.
