Campus-Based Federal Title IV Student Aid

Federal Work Study (FWS) and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

Campus-based aid, which includes the Federal Work Study (FWS) Program and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), is awarded to students who demonstrate significant financial need per the FAFSA results. "Financial need" is the difference between the Cost of Attendance (COA) at Chatt Tech and your FAFSA's Student Aid Index (SAI). The COA for student aid purposes is an estimate of the costs for a student to attend Chattahoochee Tech. The COA includes tuition and fees, books and supplies, food, housing, and living expenses. The COA encompasses all costs of attending college although the student may not pay those costs directly to the college.  The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) uses the information students provide on the FAFSA and a formula established by law to calculate your SAI--what DOE expects you (and your family, if dependent on the FAFSA) to contribute toward your education over the course of an academic year (3 semesters at Chattahoochee Tech).

Federal Work Study (FWS)

The Federal Work Study program provides part-time (no insurance or employment benefits) employment for interested students who demonstrate financial need. FWS enables students to work while attending school. FWS gives students a chance to earn money to help pay for educational expenses while having a job that is conducive and understanding of a student's class schedule. Chattahoochee Tech only receives a certain amount of funding each year (beginning in fall semester), so the number of students hired is dependent upon the amount of funding available, the college's needs, etc. Interested students may apply online here

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is awarded to students who demonstrate substantial financial need. The college receives an annual allotment of SEOG funds (beginning in fall semester), and funding is limited. Not all students who are eligible for SEOG will be able to receive SEOG.  SEOG awards are limited to Pell-eligible students. No additional application is needed for SEOG other than the FAFSA. The financial aid office determines final eligibility and will automatically do so.
