Distance Learning
Chattahoochee Technical College offers a growing number of distance-learning courses. These courses are labeled “OA” or "OS" for Online Asynchronous or Online Synchronous in the posted schedule of courses. In addition to these, many other courses have a significant online component regardless of the time or duration of their face-to-face meetings. The majority of Chatt Tech's online courses utilize the Blackboard Learn Learning Management System. The following link provides direct access to Chatt Tech's Blackboard Learning portal.
Taking online classes can be a great learning experience; however, success requires technical and computer skills not required in face-to-face classes. Success also requires students to have access to a computer with reliable Internet service. Using the college’s website and online access to other services, online students have access to the same services provided to on-campus students. Additionally, online students may use any physical resources available to all current students on any Chatt Tech campus.
Chatt Tech takes steps to guarantee those enrolled in online courses complete their own work and that the students registered are the ones completing this work (see Distance Learning Student Privacy Procedure).
Distance Learning Class Types
On Campus (Banner code “CA”): Courses that are taught primarily in the classroom or lab with 50 percent or less of instruction online. On campus courses may include lecture, labs, internships, clinicals and other in-person instructional modalities. On campus courses are not considered distance learning courses.
Blended (Banner code “BL”): Blended courses are distance learning courses with the majority of the course content, activities and interactions occurring online (>50% but <100% online) but may require students to come on campus for specific labs, assignments, activities, or events.
Online Synchronous (Banner code “OS”): Courses taught fully online synchronously with course content, activities and interactions occurring entirely online. This delivery method requires students to be online at specific dates/times during the term. Online synchronous courses may require proctored events.
Online Asynchronous (Banner code “OA”): Courses taught fully online asynchronously with course content, activities and interactions occurring entirely online. This delivery method does not require students to be online at specific dates/times, and students may participate in class activities and complete course assignments asynchronously. Online asynchronous courses may require proctored events.
