MAST 2110 Medical Coding and Insurance

This course provides an introduction to medical coding techniques and applications of international coding standards for billing of health care services; the application of coding of diagnostic statements and procedures for billing purposes; and medical coding as it relates to health insurance.  Topics include: International Classification of Diseases – Clinical Modification (ICD-CM); Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Manual; reimbursement; health insurance and managed care; and ethics, fraud and abuse.
