Commercial Driving Class B Certificate

Program Description: The Commercial Driving - Class B certificate program provides basic training in the principles and skills of commercial class B vehicle driving operations. Through this program, students will obtain the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to enable them to become a safe, skilled, professional, class B commercial vehicle driver. It teaches them to operate commercial straight trucks, school buses and passenger vehicles of all different sizes and descriptions on all types of roads. The program prepares students for the Georgia CDL Skills Exam and additional Passenger Endorsement certifications.

Admission Requirements : For Regular Admission, an applicant must be at least 18 years of age*; complete an application; pay the application fee.

*The Commercial Truck Driving program prefers applicants to be 21 years of age or older. Students 18 to 20 years of age may operate a commercial truck only in the State of Georgia, and therefore, may have limited employment opportunities. 

Additionally, students must:

• Have a current Class B CDL Learners’ Permit
• Have a valid Georgia driver’s license
• Pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination
• Pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) drug test at Lake City Chiropractic
• Obtain a 7-year certified Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) from the State of Georgia Highway Patrol
• Not have any DUI, Reckless Driving, drug-related violations, or other serious violations (i.e.; repetitive offenses, multiple speeding tickets, super speeder tickets, open container violations, hit and run, driving without insurance/license, texting and/or failure to control devices). Certified MVR reports are subject for review and approval by the Associate Dean.
