Advanced Dental Assisting

Dental Assistants sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare instrument and material tray setups for each patient procedure, obtain and maintain patients' dental records and perform laboratory duties such as making study models, making temporary crowns, and polishing removable appliances. During dental procedures, assistants work alongside the dentist to provide assistance. They also instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care. Dental Assistants may perform expanded function duties after meeting state law requirements. 

Program Length: A full-time student who has registered for classes in the Advanced Dental Assisting Certificate can complete the Advanced Dental Assisting Certificate in one semester.

Admission Requirements: Students must meet all admission requirements of the college, have reached the age of 18 by the start of clinicals, and have obtained a Basic Dental Assisting Certificate.
