EMS Professions Diploma

EP12

Availability: North Metro and Appalachian Campuses

Program Purpose: The Prehospital Professions Diploma combines Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT). This diploma prepares students to provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This diploma allows the graduate to function as part of a comprehensive EMS response. Successful completion of the program allows the graduate to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians AEMT certification examination and apply for Georgia licensure as an AEMT.

Program Length: The EMSP courses can be completed in one or two semesters depending on campus location. Completion timeline for the additional diploma courses will vary as they can be completed prior to the start of the EMT program or they can be taken at the same time as the EMSP courses.

Admission Requirements: Students must meet all admission requirements of the college and have reached the age of 18 by the start of clinicals. Students must enroll in the college’s EMSP Diploma Program and attend a mandatory information/application session. Admission will close once the courses are at full capacity. The program does not maintain a waiting list. Please consult the appropriate Academic program on the college’s website for specific program admission information.
