Student Rights and Responsibilities
Students of Chattahoochee Technical College are guaranteed all of the rights, privileges and freedoms granted to a citizen of the United States. In addition, they are entitled to an environment that is conducive to learning and individual growth. To this end, students enrolled at Chattahoochee Technical College assume a citizen’s responsibility to abide by federal, state, and local laws. Violations of statutory laws, or of Chattahoochee Technical College student conduct regulations or other Technical College System of Georgia policies, rules and regulations may lead to disciplinary actions by Chattahoochee Technical College. These regulations do not deny any previously guaranteed rights and privileges, but ensure a pleasant educational environment for all Chattahoochee Technical College students.
1. Statement of Students Rights
Subject to respect for the rights of others, every student enjoys the assurance of the full exercise of those rights expressed in the Statement of Freedom of Expression, including, but not limited to, the following specific rights:

The right to engage in the free exchange of ideas.
•
The right to protest and to dissent peaceably and to join with others in other nonviolent forms of joint action.
•
The right to bring grievances to the appropriate offices of the College without fear of retaliation.
•
The right to attend functions and utilize College facilities subject to prescribed rules. The right to reasonable peace and quiet in academic areas and to an atmosphere conducive to study.

The right to be free from harassment for reasons of one’s race, religion, national origin, ethnic identification, age, political affiliation and/or belief, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, economic status, military, veteran status, or physical or mental disability.

The same privacy rights, and no one surrenders these rights by becoming members of the academic community. The right to be secure in their persons, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures. Privacy for electronic communication and devices is subject to the
Student Computer Use Policy, the
Internet Use Policy, and the
Wireless Access Policy.
