Clinical Laboratory Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree

Program Accreditation: The Clinical Laboratory Technology program has applied for accreditation by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS), located at 5600 North River Rd., Suite 720, Rosemont, Illinois 60018-5119. NAACLS telephone number is 773-714-8880. The CLT program has reached the “Serious Applicant Status” phase of accreditation and graduates of the program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the Clinical Laboratory Technician administered by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT). Website: www.naacls.org.

Program Description : Clinical Laboratory Technology teaches students to perform clinical laboratory procedures under the supervision of a qualified pathologist and/or clinical laboratory scientist. Classroom training is integrated with clinical experiences under the medical direction of cooperating hospitals. Program graduates have the qualifications of a Clinical Laboratory Technician and are eligible for national certification. The Program allows the student to articulate their 2-year degree with a 4-year online CLS/MLS degree.

Program Length : A fulltime student who has successfully completed all pre-requisite courses with C or better and who has been admitted into the Clinical Laboratory Technology program can complete the Clinical Laboratory Technology program in five semesters.

Admission Requirements : Students must meet all admission requirements of the college and have reached the age of 18. Students who intend to apply for the Clinical Laboratory Technology program must enroll in the Health Sciences Certificate program to complete the associate degree level

Pre-Requisite Courses . The completion of the pre-requisite courses does not guarantee admission into the Clinical Laboratory Technology program. Admission into the Clinical Laboratory Technology program is competitive, and the program does not maintain a waiting list.
