RNSG 1200 Instroduction to Professional Nursing

This course is designed to introduce the LPN to the role of the professional nurse and evidenced-based nursing.  It also includes an orientation to the philosophy and curriculum framework upon which the CTC nursing curriculum was established. Topics include, but are not limited to: legal and ethical aspects of nursing; evidenced-based care; clinical reasoning; the nursing process; cultural diversity in care; health promotion and disease prevention, and communication.  The existing knowledge base of the student will be built upon to enhance student use of the nursing process in the care of adult patients with selected alterations. Pharmacological management of the identified stressors will also be discussed. This course includes classroom theory, and skills lab/simulation.
